With the summer well and truly behind us and winter drawing in, an increasing number of celebrities are ditching beach waves for a sleek new do.
'Glass hair' was introduced to Instagram by celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton last month, after he was inundated with questions over Kim Kardashian's new sleek bob.
And the trend hasn't taken long to catch on, with models Hailey Baldwin, Olivia Culpo, Jordan Dunn among the celebrities sporting the razor sharp style.
According to stylist to the stars Cash Lawless, the trend first emerged in the sixties before making a comeback in the nineties and reemerging recently.
The key to the look is to create a pin-straight, weightless hair which is perfectly polished, smooth and shiny- resembling a sheet of glass.

British hair trend expert Zoe Irwin told Femail: 'We're seeing glass hair everywhere right now, with celebrities like Dua Lipa, Bella Hadid and Olivia Culpo all wearing it with a super blunt bob. The look works particularly well with shorter hair and it really flatters the jaw too .'
Taking to Instagram to address Kim's sleek bob, Chris explained: 'I've been getting a lot of questions about @kimkardashian super sharp bob so I thought I would answer some!
'The inspiration was 90s swishy glass hair. I wanted to create a really intense shine and for the hair.
'I cut the Kim's hair shorter than we've ever done before just underneath the jaw line, keeping the cut blunt with no angle.

Celebrity stylist Justine Marjan shared this image of model Ashley Graham sporting the sleek do as well

With the summer well and truly behind us and winter drawing in, an increasing number of celebrities have ditched beachy waves for a sleek new do- reality star Blac Chyna seen
'For me getting an intense shine was really important part of our look.'
The stylist went on to explain how he achieved the edgy look, writing: 'On wet hair, I applied @ColorWowHair Dream Coat then blow dried the hair using a large round bristle brush.
'Unlike the sleek styles we've done in the past we wanted the hair to have some volume, so I kicked the ends under for the cute 90s twist.
'I always finish off with a drop of #ColorWowHair Pop and Lock just to finish off the shine and lock in the style.'

Model Hailey Baldwin has also been seen sporting the do, which gets its name from the resemblance to a sheet of glass

Fashionista Olivia Culpo was one of the first models to rock the trend, with the key to the style lying in the sleek shine and razor ends

Kylie Jenner and half sister Kim Kardashian are among the reality stars rocking the recently turned trend
Stylist Cash Lawless added of the trend: 'We first saw polish and shine in a glass-like manner popularized by Vidal Sasson in the sixties.
'He was achieving immense levels of shine on short geometric cuts. Now, videos have began to go viral and hairstylists started picking up on the trend.'
Meanwhile Chris Appleton told InStyle that the key to achieving the 'weightless' look was to use shampoo free of silicones, conditioners, or thickeners that could leave a film on the hair.
Speaking to Femail, GHD ambassador Zoe revealed just how to achieve the look in five simple steps.
She said: 'To recreate the look, blow dry hair and use a root lift spray for added hold. This will create the base for the look.
'Next, the key is using a shine spray before you style your hair for that glass-like shine.
'Lightly mist all over hair before styling – don't spray too much as it will make your hair look limp but enough to add elements of shine.
'Finish by running a straightener over the hair and carefully pressing it gently to illuminate any last frizz or kinks.'

Model Bella Hadid has also been seen showing off the look, which experts say makes the most of your jawline

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
