«Breaking News» GBBO's Prue Leith reveals 'disgusting' habit as she confesses to using 'out of date' food in baking

Great British Bake Off star Prue Leith laid bare the extent of her 'disgusting' kitchen cupboards when she confessed to using 'out of date' food while cooking up a storm.

Acknowledging some people would be repulsed by her cooking practices, the baking guru didn't mind admitting she uses the 'sniff test' on her food.  

The TV personality, who unveiled the name of the winner on last year's show hours early, revealed to The Daily Star she hopes to 'kill off bugs' with hot temperatures.

She told the publication: 'I just sniff the things and I use them. I'll put them in a decent temperature, hopefully it'll just kill the bugs.

Reflecting on her own habits, Prue mused: 'Some people think it's disgusting.'

Prue made headlines when she was left red-faced after prematurely lifting the lid on the results of last year's final which saw Sophie Faldo crowned the winner.

The mortified cooking host claimed she felt like an 'idiot' over the infamous Twitter blunder during her televised appearance on the Jonathan Ross Show.

The results for the 2017 final, which saw 7.7 million viewers tune in, was prematurely revealed in a Twitter gaffe by chef Prue, who quickly deleted her too-early congratulatory tweet after the mistake had been made.

She blamed her mistake on the time difference as she was in Bhutan at the time, which is five hours ahead of the UK. The mortified star apologised to loyal GBBO fans, admitting: 'I f***** up'.

During the interview on the late-night talk show, she confessed: 'I don’t think I’m ever going to live that down for as long as I live.'

'I’m an idiot, but there we are. There was about 11 hours difference. I was in such a panic when I realised what I’d done, I couldn’t make my phone work so I couldn’t delete it myself so I had to ring my secretary and when I got through to her she said she’d already deleted it. It was horrible. Everybody went on to tell me I’d ruined it.' She said on the show. 

'I was in Bhutan and we hadn’t had any internet connection for about three days. I was having a siesta, I was in bed. 

'I suddenly saw that I had a message saying, "Don’t forget to congratulate the winner after 10.30." So I looked at my watch and thought, "Ah it’s after 10.30" so I immediately tweeted it and 89 seconds later, my PA who is no fool had deleted it but by then two people had retweeted it.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
