«Breaking News» Gareth Southgate insists Marcus Rashford can be England's Cristiano Ronaldo

Gareth Southgate has claimed that Marcus Rashford could become a talisman for England just as Cristiano Ronaldo has been for Portugal.

Rashford scored the winning goal against Switzerland at the King Power Stadium on Tuesday night.

It was the third England home game in a row Rashford had scored in and Southgate believes he is showing signs of becoming an integral player despite still being 20.

Southgate said: 'He is a special talent. We have to remember that Harry Kane at that age had hardly played anywhere near the matches for Spurs.

'You can even compare it to some of those other top players who have broken through.

'Some of the step-overs and things Ronaldo was doing at that age [were remarkable], but Ronaldo wasn’t converting them into the same number of goals.'

Ronaldo's goal tally was more impressive that Rashford at the same age. Ronaldo had scored nine goals in 27 appearances compared to Rashford's haul of five. 

Southgate added: 'So we have got to give Marcus time to develop.

'He has still played a lot of football, although maybe not the continuous starts, and I’m really pleased for him that he leaves here full of confidence.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
