The cold case rape and murder of a Florida woman that had gone unsolved for two decades was finally cracked by the Sarasota Sheriff's Office.
Luke Fleming, 39, was taken into custody on Sunday night for the 1999 murder of 47-year-old Deborah Dalzell, and is now facing charges of Murder and Sexual Battery with Great Bodily Harm.
Dalzell was discovered dead inside her home by law enforcement officials on March 29, 1999, after her co-workers called the authorities to express concern about her unexplained absence from work.
An investigation soon determined that she had been brutally beaten, strangled and raped by her murderer, whose identity was unknown for 19 years.
In those 19 years the man police believe killed the innocent woman has been in a series of failed relationships, gotten arrested for domestic assault and welcomed a son of his own into the world.

Cold no more: New DNA testing led them to a suspect, and on Sunday Luke Fleming, 39, was arrested on charges of Murder and Sexual Battery with Great Bodily Harm (Fleming above on Sunday)

The big break for detectives came, as it does with many cold cases these days, when advancements in DNA testing allowed for a new way to test bodily fluid.
Semen was discovered on the scene, and in 2015 a new program that is able to determine the ancestry and physical traits of an individual from a DNA sample came up with a suspect that looks remarkably like Fleming.
He was not arrested however until police were able to obtain a DNA sample from him, which also matched the evidence left at the scene.
Fleming also lived just a short walk from the victim's home at the time of the murder.
Since then he has been married and divorced, had a broken engagement and welcomed a son, who is now almost three.
Fleming had been working at a wholesale seafood distributor, Bama Sea Products, and living in St Petersburg with a new girlfriend at the time of his arrest.
He is now behind bars at the Sarasota County Jail on a $1.2 million bond.
'This is a very significant day for Deborah’s family, for our community and our detectives,' said'We have dreamed of the day that we would get the news that they caught their killer. We now have a face and name for this monster,' said the victim's sister at a press conference on Wednesday.

'I can’t imagine what it feels like to spend nearly twenty years with unanswered questions related to such a heinous crime. My thoughts are with Deborah’s family as I hope this resolution will eventually bring them the closure they need and deserve.'
Also speaking at the press conference was Peggy Thistle, the victim's sister.
'It’s an emotional day today' said Thistle, who could not hold back her tears.
'We miss Deborah every day. We never gave up hope.'
She went on to speak about how shocked the family had been when Dalzell first told them she planned to move to Florida after spending most of her life in Massachusetts.
'But she fell in love with the beach, found the house of her dreams and called it paradise,' said Thistle.
'On March 29, 1999, this evil person turned her paradise into a nightmare.'
She then added: 'As a family, we have dreamed of the day that we would get the news that they caught their killer. We now have a face and name for this monster.'
Thistle also noted that Friday is her sister's birthday, and wished her a 'happy birthday' in her remarks.
'For 20 years, he has been able to see the sun, breathe the air, and see the flowers. May today be the last day,' said Thistle, who acknowledged that her mother was still alive and urged others in their situation not to give up hope.
Lock him up: 'We have dreamed of the day that we would get the news that they caught their killer. We now have a face and name for this monster,' said the victim's sister (Dalzell's sister Peggy Thistle above with Sheriff Tom Knight on Wednesday)
Sink or swim: The incident report revealed that someone cut a screen and entered the home through the pool area before murdering Dalzell in a savage killing, using only his or her hands (Fleming above in his family's pool just half-a-mile from the victim's home)
Dalzell had been speaking with her sister just before she was murdered, with the two talking on the phone at around 10:30pm on March 28.
They had been planning to have dinner toigether but Dalzell had complained of being tired from work and wanting toi get home to the new house she had just built - a little over half-a-milke from where Fleming lived at the time.
The incident report revealed that someone cut a screen and entered the home through the pool area before murdering Dalzell in a savage killing, using only his or her hands.
In addition to the sexual trauma, Dalzell also had a dislocated jaw and her entire body was covered with bruises.
Her body was found in the bathroom, and nothing had been stolen from the home.
Police were led to Fleming when their DNA test determined that the man's father, Joseph Fleming, was related to the individual whose semen was found at the scene.
Jesse Fleming, the older brother of the suspect, was already in the system due to previous arrests and was ruled out after comparing his DNA with the evidence, leaving just one possible suspect.
Fleming had a previous arrest in 2002 for domestic assault.
A friend of his ex-wife acknowledged the arrest when she wrote on Amiee Fleming's Facebook page Wednesday, stating: Glad you’re alive.'
The investigation into the murder is still ongoing, though Thistle noted there was no connection between Fleming and her sister that she was aware of at the time.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
