«Breaking News» Elton John reveals he prefers being dad to sons Zachary and Elijah over performing live

Elton John has admitted he prefers being a dad to performing live.

The 70-year-old music icon told The Mirror he doesn't miss the thrill of taking to the stage when he's at home taking care of sons Zachary, seven, and Elijah, five, who he shares with husband David Furnish.

It comes as Elton kicks off his last ever world tour Farewell Yellow Brick Road, which will see him play a staggering 300 dates over three years.

He said: 'My life revolves around them now – taking them to school, getting them to bed, being there for them, being there at weekends.

'Fatherhood taught me that there is no love as strong as the love you have for your children.

'Not even my love for playing live.'

Elton kicked off his incredible swan song tour last week with a show in Pennsylvania, after he announced earlier this year he is set to quit touring to focus on his young family.

The Rocket Man legend confirmed in January he was done taking to the road to perform after 50 years in the industry, but didn't rule out writing or releasing new music.

He told The Mirror: 'I plan to bring the passion and creativity that has entertained my fans for decades to my final tour. After the tour finishes, I'm very much looking forward to closing off that chapter of my life by saying farewell to life on the road.

'I need to dedicate more time to raising my children. It's time to come off the road so I can fully embrace the next important chapter of my life.

'I'm always going to be creative, I'm always going to be interested in creative stuff, and you know, I think after this tour is finished, I'll take a few years off and see what's going to happen.

'But creatively, I will be doing writing a lot, and who knows what's going to happen. If you let things happen for you, that's the magic of life. I will be creative, hopefully, up until the day I die.'

After kicking off his shows in the States, Elton will travel to the UK in April 2019 for ten dates, though the locations are yet to be confirmed.

He is also set to lend a hand to this year's John Lewis Christmas Advert, with sources saying he has been offered £5 million and a starring role in the iconic ad.

The Mail On Sunday reported it is a dramatic bid by the department store chain to win the annual festive TV campaign battle against high street rivals such as Marks & Spencer.

It comes...

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
