David O'Leary was in no doubt. Unai Emery is in for an exacting season in charge of Arsenal.
No-one knows the club better than the Irishman who played a record 722 times for them.
He has witnessed the club rise in profile from Highbury - 'which we thought was fantastic' - to the Emirates. 'It is another level, it is so big now,' he said. An escalation largely under the management of Arsene Wenger who was at Arsenal for 22 years.

Wenger left at the end of last season and now the mantle is worn by Emery. 'It is really early days,' said O'Leary.' I think he has a hard job. I don't think it is a case of "change of manger, here we go". Arsenal finished sixth last season and sixth was the right place.
'My question now is - the five ahead of them... Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham. City and United are what they are. Chelsea have started great. I saw them play against Arsenal in Dublin and I was impressed with them.
'And I can understand the transfer policy at Tottenham. If you have a really good team, it is very hard to say, for instance, go and get another centre forward. If I am a centre forward, do I really want to go somewhere where I am behind Harry Kane?

'It wasn't a fluke we finished sixth last season. I think: "Have we got better than the five ahead of us?" I don't think so yet. If we finish higher than sixth, I believe we have done well.
'There will be no-one like Arsene or Alex Ferguson any more. That's gone. Twenty two years at a club as a manager is an amazing achievement. It will never happen again.'
The backdrop to the interview with O'Leary was the once notorious Elthorne Estate reckoned to be the toughest in north London.
At the end of the complex is something of an oasis - the Johan Cruyff football centre adjacent to the boxing club with both aided by the Arsenal Foundation.
Rather than just mean streets, the youth of the area now have meaning thanks to the likes of former player Jeremie Aliadiere who helps regularly at the centre.
No surprise to O'Leary who was reared on the Arsenal commitment to the community. His connection with the club remains strong - but they are not the only team he follows.
He believes it will be difficult for Arsenal to finisher higher than last season's sixth place
O'Leary was manager for four years at Leeds and in his time at Elland Road the club never finished out of the top five before he was sacked in 2002. They are now in the second tier but are on the rise.
'I am delighted they have started well,' he said. 'It would be great for them to come back into the Premier League.'
And no-one was more proud than O'Leary to wear the green shirt of the Republic of Ireland which he did on 68 occasions.
Clearly, the last two competitive results have been less than inspiring - a 5-1 defeat at home to Denmark and a 4-1 loss to Wales last Thursday.
'I listened to the Wales match on the radio,' said O'Leary. 'It seemed to be a total annihilation. It looks like Wales have potential coming through. We seem to be in a bit of a rut.
'Do I fear for Irish football? I do - because I don't see anything magnificent in their younger teams. You do fear that way for them.'
Proceeds from the Legends match between Arsenal and Real Madrid will benefit the Arsenal Foundation and their Save the Children in Jordan campaign

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
