Alex Trebek announced on Wednesday that he has been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
And two months before revealing the news, the longtime host of TV quiz show Jeopardy! said in January that he wishes he met his wife Jean, 54, earlier in the life.
The 78-year-old told People two months ago: 'I'm pretty satisfied with my life. But my wife Jean and I have been together almost 29 years, and I was thinking about President Bush when he died, and all the comments about his life about what a nice guy he is, and how he and his wife had been together 73 years.'

He continued: 'I thought, oh my gosh... if I'd just met Jean in my 20s we could have had a longer life together.'
Alex joked to the outlet: 'I guess if I'd met her when I was in my twenties she wouldn't have been born yet. But hey, 29 years is pretty good!'
He was previously married to Elaine Callei; they wed in 1974 and divorced in 1981. They had no children together.
Alex and his wife Jean Currivan married in 1990; they have two children together: Matthew, 29, and Emily, 27.

Emily works in real estate in Los Angeles, according to People.
Jean told the outlet in January that they were just friends for a while before it ever got romantic.
She said to People: 'There was just this deep sensitivity about him with a gruffy exterior. I kept thinking, he's 24 years older than me... but there was something that just kept drawing me to him.'
Jean said that he's got a 'great sense of humor,' he's 'intelligent' and 'curious,' adding 'he takes his job very seriously but won't take himself too seriously.'

She said to the magazine: 'We have our challenges, and then we have our really beautiful times where we're just so blessed to know that we're in each other's courtyard.'
Two months after his sweet remarks about his wife, Alex recorded a message on YouTube, saying: 'Now, just like 50,000 other people in the United States each year, this week I was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.'
'Now normally, the prognosis for this is not very encouraging, but I’m going to fight this, and I’m going to keep working.

'So help me. Keep the faith and we’ll win. We’ll get it done. Thank you.'

The 78-year-old told People two months...
It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
