'I looked like a moron!' James Buckley has discussed The Inbetweeners reunion once again, chatting on his podcast Completed It, Mate about how he felt like a 'f**king idiot' during it and can't bring himself to watch it back
The 31-year-old said: 'It became a thing that wasn't a celebration of this good thing I did in my life, it was me being taken the p**s out of for hours on end.
'I didn't have the personality or the intelligence to cope with it, especially when you’re up against someone like Jimmy Carr, who's super quick and super funny. So I come across as a complete moron through the whole thing.
'I got caught where I was acting up as Jay because there was an audience there of Inbetweeners fans and I got caught in this spot between Jay and myself where myself was going, "You’re acting like a f**king idiot, you’re being a moron, you’re being a d**k". And there was this bit where it was like, "Well they’re all here and they want you to be Jay, so do it."
'When the audience was there, I didn’t want to seem like a stick in the mud.'
Didn't go down well: Fans of the show - which was also made into a movie and its sequel - and critics blasted the reunion due to the format of it - with many hoping that it was to be a continuation of The Inbetweeners' story
Happy new year! The Inbetweeners Fwends Reunited 10th anniversary show was slammed by devoted fans following its New Year's Day airing
Fans of the show - which was also made into a movie and its sequel - and critics blasted the reunion due to the format of it - with many hoping that it was to be a continuation of The Inbetweeners' story.
'I didn’t want to go, "Can we stop for a second because I don't know what the f**k's going on here – you’re talking to me like I’m Jay from The Inbetweeners. I’m really not",' James went on. 'So that was another one of the reasons why it was a disaster.'
He appeared alongside his co-stars - Joe Thomas, Blake Harrison and Simon Bird - but the fact that they were flummoxed by the format made it seem like they didn't like one another.
'If we hadn’t got on, The Inbetweeners wouldn't have worked. I don’t ever want people to think those guys aren't my friends,' James added.
Not a fan: The 31-year-old said - 'It became a thing that wasn't a celebration of this good thing I did in my life, it was me being taken the p**s out of for hours on end'
On New Year's Day, furious fans flooded Twitter with a wave of vitriolic comments, in which they branded the programme 'toe-curling, painful, awkward and cringeworthy'.
And by Wednesday evening, actor James admitted that the harsh critiques left him feeling 'hated' as he wrote on the micro-blogging site: 'Feeling pretty hated right now. Im sorry to anyone who feels let down with last nights show.
'Im especially upset as it really is the fans that made the inbetweeners a success, it certainly wasnt me. I might do an explanation video on my YT [YouTube], or might just leave it & move on #sorry.' [sic]
His co-star Blake took a more dry-humoured approach to the furor, simply tweeting: 'So, 2019 off to a good start.'

There was much fanfare over the reunion, however it seems the problems arose for fans due to confusion over the premise of the programme.
Twitter users penned: 'Jimmy Carr was an awful host & talked over everyone. The 4 of them looked like they didn’t want to be there some of the time, and some of it was super cringe... painfully bad. Greg Davies should’ve hosted it...'
Another echoed this: 'The Inbetweeners reunion was toe-curling... The biggest disappointment of 2019 has already happened, Inbetweeners Friends Reunited, what is this s**t ffs...'

Critics also hit out at the show, with a review in The Telegraph branding the show: 'A shambolic mess that failed to do the show justice'.
Aside from upset at the episode, fans were excited to hear a host of inside details including the fact that Doctor Who star Matt Smith had tried and failed for the job of James' character Jay.
Additionally, it was revealed that in the original pilot, James had read for Blake's character however after hearing his behaviour off-screen, creators Damon Beesley and Iain Morris realised he was better suited to Jay.

In October, James admitted he does not feel the show would be well-received if made now, due to the 'joke police' in modern comedy.
A decade after the show kicked off, he spoke to Digital Spy about the programme, which he insisted would be problematic to a modern audience.
He said: 'Nowadays, it feels very black and white with comedy. There's no in-between, it's just, 'This person said this on television - isn't that terrible? It's killing comedy... There seems to be a joke police, nowadays.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
