«Breaking News» Bordeaux's new owners claim Thierry Henry didn't get top job for 'financial reasons'

Bordeaux's new owners have claimed they walked away from talks with Thierry Henry due to 'financial reasons' after negotiations for the Arsenal legend to become manager broke down.

US investment fund GACP are set to takeover the club and have hired Brazilian coach Ricardo to replace Gus Poyet, who left his role following a disagreement over the sale of a player during the transfer window. 

Bordeaux had tried to bring in current Belgium assistant coach Henry but head of GACP Joe DaGrosa has claimed it was their decision not to hire him.

'In each business, whether it be a football team, a shop or an insurance company, there are business plans,' DaGrosa told L'Equipe. 'And sometimes that involves taking difficult decisions.

'We had hoped to reach an agreement with Thierry Henry, but sometimes reasonable people can disagree. That's what happened. 

'I have a lot of respect for him. He was a great player and he has a very interesting career plan, but we took a financial decision and not an emotional one.'

GACP are set to takeover the club from M6, with the transition of power to be completed before the end of the month, however they were not prepared to break their financial model to accommodate the Frenchman.

Reports in France had suggested that Henry rejected the opportunity to become Bordeaux's boss over fears he would not have entire control over the acquisition of players. 

But DeGrosa has refuted those claims, suggesting they ended discussions for purely financial reasons.

'Thierry Henry perhaps had a bad impression of our talks but at the end of our meeting, we made it clear that it was we who were leaving the talks for financial reasons.

'There was no confusion on the matter.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
